Isabel Allende
Isabel Allende (1942-present) born in Peru to Chilean parents is one of the most widely read Latin American authors. She is recognized for her skill in intertwining magical elements with realism, as well her portrayal of women in her books. Her works cover a multitude of themes, including love, loss, social justice, and the experiences of women.
In honor of her daughter who died, she founded the Isabel Allende Foundation in 1996. This organization aimed to secure reproductive rights, economic independence, and freedom from violence for women and girls.
